Margaret H. Smith, 94, of the Watermark at East Hill,Southbury, devoted wife of George Smith died peacefully on Thursday, June 3, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. Margaret, or Midge as she liked to be called was born in Norwalk on February 26, 1916, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Keri) Hornyak. She was educated in Norwalk schools and after graduating from high school worked as a medical assistant to Dr. Eugene Beck for more than 35 years. Midge and George lived in Heritage Crest for 18 years before moving to the Watermark. She loved to play bridge and belonged to many bridge clubs, liked to play scrabble, do crossword puzzles and loved the companionship of her two beautiful cats. In addition to her beloved husband, she will be sadly missed by her stepson Michael Smith of Norwalk; her sister-in-law Ruth Hornyak of New Milford; her three nieces, Elaine Holt Vanderhayden of PA, Elinor Hornyak Platt of FL and Nancy Hornyak Jerolmon of New Milford; her three nephews, William Hornyak of Westport, Barry Holt of MA and James Hornyak of Newtown; several grandnieces and grandnephews. She was pre-deceased by two sisters, Helen Bassler and Olga Holt; a brother William J. Hornyak and a nephew, Robert Hornyak.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Regional Hospice of Western, CT, Inc., 30 West St., Danbury, CT 06810, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Funeral: Sacred Heart Church
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 7 at 10: 00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main St. South, Southbury. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Norwalk.
