Obituary

Southbury- Margaret "Peggy" Pye (née O'Callaghan), beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on November the 25th, at the age of 95, after a full and wonderful life. Peggy was born and raised in Ennistymon, Co. Clare, Ireland. She trained to be a registered nurse at Barrington's in Limerick and then worked in a tuberculosis hospital in Dublin until she emigrated to the United States in the late 1950s. In New York she met, fell in love with and married Michael Pye, of Redbrae, Co. Leitrim, Ireland, who was a devoted husband and father to their three daughters until his untimely death in 1976. Peggy continued working as a registered nurse for the Hebrew Home for the Aged in Riverdale and at the time of her retirement in 1992 had completed 19 continuous years of dedicated service there.

Outside of her work and parenting, she embraced life wholeheartedly, retiring in Sun City Center, Florida while also maintaining a residence in Riverdale, New York. She enjoyed painting, bike riding, and spending time with friends and family. Peggy frequently traveled to Ireland to visit with her sisters and their families as well as cousins and friends.

Besides her husband Michael, Peggy is predeceased by her beloved parents Daniel and Bridget, siblings Letty, Kitty (Sr. Kathleen), Noreen, and Martin. She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen, Noreen, and Bernadette, her grandchildren, Cáitlin and Kevin, son in law Eugene and grandson in law Daniel, Kevin's partner Kristina, and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Her family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at East Hill in Southbury and the Regional Hospice team.
