WOODBURY- Mrs. Margaret Louise McDermott, 87, of Woodbury, died Monday, December 6, 2010 at Apple Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of William J. McDermott.
Mrs. McDermott was born April 18, 1923 in Greenfield, MA, daughter of the late Edward and Alyce (Byors) Bridgman. She had resided in North Syracuse, NY for 30 years and has resided in the Woodbury area since 1982. While in Massachusetts, she had belonged to an ice skating club. Eventually, she joined the Ice Capades, where she skated for seven years. After leaving the Ice Capades, she taught ice skating for several years. While living in North Syracuse, NY, she worked at the Allen Road Elementary School in the library. She also had worked in the Middlebury Public Library here in Connecticut. Including ice skating, Mrs. McDermott enjoyed reading, antiquing, baking and spending time with her family and friends. She was a wonderful daughter, mother, sister and wife. She was kind and generous in spirit. Everyone who knew her loved this incredible woman.
Besides her husband of 62 years, she leaves a son, William J. McDermott, Jr. of Nashville, TN, a daughter, Anne Schack of New York City, NY, a sister, Dorothy Darrah of Woodbury, two grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne Schack and Joseph Bridgman Schack and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Nielson.

Services: A funeral blessing will be held at 10: 30 a.m. on Saturday, December 11th at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Chapel Hawthorne, NY.
Visitation: Friends may call the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main St. North on Friday from 4-6 p.m.
