Margaret “Peggy” Louise Lynn, age 89, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, in Torrington,
Connecticut.
Peggy was born on April 21, 1936, in Waterbury, Connecticut, the beloved daughter of Rosetta
Foster and Benjamin Harrison Lynn. She grew up in the Waterbury area and shared a close bond
with her sister, Joan Lynn Blum.
Peggy attended Watertown High School and went on to graduate from the Waterbury Hospital
School of Nursing, beginning a lifelong career devoted to caring for others. She worked at
Waterbury Hospital for several years, rising to the position of staff nursing supervisor. She also
spent part of her nursing career in New York City alongside her good friend, JoAnn Fadus Gizzi.
Peggy later continued her work with VNA Northwest, where she ultimately became a hospice
nurse, providing compassionate care to patients and their families.
A woman of deep faith, Peggy was a devoted member of the Watertown Congregational Church
for over 50 years and later spent many years attending the Colebrook Congregational Church,
where she formed lasting friendships.
Peggy shared many meaningful years with her significant other, Ross LeManquais, and later in
life with Charles C. Smith. These relationships were an important and cherished part of her life.
She had a deep love for family and genealogy and served on the Board of the Lynn Family
Reunion. Peggy took great pride in compiling and producing the Lynn family cookbook, which
preserved not only cherished recipes but also the family’s genealogy. She was especially known
for making Grandma Lynn’s homemade bread, which she generously shared with family,
friends, and church fairs.
Peggy also enjoyed antiquing, attending tag sales, traveling, and reading. She found great joy in
nature, especially in caring for her beloved hummingbirds, which she faithfully fed twice a day.
She would often say that when they returned each season, they came right to her picture
window to greet her.
Peggy was truly a nurse through and through—always ready to offer care, comfort, and
guidance to her family and friends. She was the cornerstone of her family, maintaining close
connections and bringing people together. She especially cherished time spent with her nieces,
nephews, and her many friends in Colebrook.
Peggy leaves her sister, Joan Lynn Blum, and is predeceased by many beloved family members,
including Hazel Lynn Perkins, Carleton Perkins, and Classen Perkins; Elizabeth “Betty” Lynn
Vaughn and Eugene Vaughn; Robert Lynn and Betty Lynn; Doris Lynn Foran; Phyllis Lynn Erling
and August “Junie” Erling; Barbara Lynn Blum and Raymond Blum; Foster Donald Lynn and
Evelyn Lynn; Janice Lynn-Toogood, Ernest Lance, and Dewey Frenger; and her brother-in-law,
Alan Blum.
She leaves behind extended family and many dear friends who will cherish her memory and the
lasting impact she made on their lives.
