Margaret Devereux Halberstadt, 88, of the Twin Maples Nursing Home in Durham, formerly of Cheshire for over 30 years, died Wednesday, November 1at Twin Maples. She was the widow of Alfred H. Halberstadt. Mrs. Halberstadt was born August 5, 1918 in Utica, NY, daughter of the late Nicholas Edward and Anne (Quinlan) Devereux. Mrs. Halberstadt is survived by two daughters, Ellen Uram of Woodbury and Janet Lewis of Madison; a brother, Anthony Devereux of Pawleys Island, SC; 4 grandchildren, Kristen and Alison Lewis and Andrew and Daniel Uram; several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her son Peter Halberstadt. Funeral services and burial in Woodbury are private. The Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School St, is in charge of arrangements.
