IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret
Greenman
August 10, 1930 – March 2, 2025
Southbury- Margaret Greenman went home to the Lord on March 2, 2025. She was born August 10, 1930, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the daughter of the late Edith E. Kinivil and the younger sister of her only sibling, the late John Kinivil, Jr. She grew up in a multi-generational household with her mother, brother, German-speaking grandparents and an aunt and uncle on Grant Street.
A longtime member of the Lutheran Church, Margaret attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bridgeport, where she also raised her children. After moving to Southbury, Connecticut, she became an active member of St. James Lutheran Church.
Margaret attended cosmetology school and became a licensed hairdresser. She later worked for many years in the hospitality industry at King Lake, a family resort in Bethel, Connecticut, operated by her mother, Edith. Many happy memories were made at King Lake from engaging with friends, family, and guests at the pool, to dinner service and Saturday night live music and dancing in the restaurant. Margaret served alongside her mother, and for many years her brother in that business, which was a lively hub of activity.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Harry F. Greenman and by her former husband, Carl Bernard Marks, Jr. It was with Harry, owner of Lovell's Garage in Newtown, Connecticut, that Margaret enjoyed traveling and many adventures.
Margaret is survived by a daughter, Deborah Marks LaCavera (Gerry) of Fort Myers, Florida and a son, Russell Marks (Susan) of Charlottesville, Virginia, as well as, three grandchildren and their spouses, all of whom she loved, cherished and was proud to tell you about. She is also survived by a dear aunt, Gloria Trede, of Southbury, Connecticut.
A memorial service will be held at St. James Church, 111 Peter Rd, Southbury, Connecticut on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
