Obituary

We are saddened to announce the death of our dear mother, Margaret Brown Goddu. On January 25, 2010, Margaret departed this life peacefully at home to join her beloved husband, Whit Goddu, in heaven. Born April 29, 1925 in Winchester, Massachusetts, she met Whit, a Coast Guard Academy cadet, while she attended Connecticut College for Women.

She and Whit married following graduation and she began life as a Coast Guard wife, ultimately serving as the President of the Coast Guard Wives Club. She also worked to help support Alumni Relation programs for the Academy. She took great pride and pleasure in being a member of the Coast Guard family.

An artist, gardener, nature lover and world traveler, Margaret created international flair and beauty in her home for her husband and her family. She felt truly blessed to have had almost 60 years of marriage to Whit. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family, including her two daughters Elizabeth McKean and her husband Mac and Eleanor Taylor and her husband Jim, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
