Obituary

Margaret J. (Clark) Benner, 81, of Naugatuck, died on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at the Lutheran Home of Southbury. Marge found peace at the time of her passing after a fierce battle with cancer.

From the time of her birth, in Joanna, SC on May 5, 1934, to the late John and Effie (Riddle) Clark, to her passing, Marge's zest for life, brave outlook, and sense of humor touched the lives of all she encountered.

Born and raised in South Carolina, Marge enjoyed life as part of a big family. As a young adult, she met and married her first husband, Edward Ulrich and moved to Connecticut to start life as a wife and mother. After many years perfecting her domestic skills, Marge and Edward parted ways and Marge pursued new interests and found new talents in the administrative medical field. Before her retirement, Marge was an integral part of the Psychiatry Department of Waterbury Hospital as the unit secretary. Her natural ability for organization and her quick wit enabled her to thrive for many years in this position.

Marge's Southern roots were apparent in her genuine humor and hospitality. Whether it was a holiday, dinner at home, or an impromptu happy hour on the back porch, Marge's love for cooking, baking and spending happy moments with friends always brought a smile to the faces of those with whom she shared her time. As an avid reader, Marge also spent countless hours finding the romance and mystery brought to life by her favorite authors.

Marge is survived by her son Robert Ulrich and his wife Elaine of Southbury, two granddaughters, Melissa Ulrich and her partner Jason Urban of Southbury and Michelle Leveillee and husband Joseph of Cheshire, and two great granddaughters, Ellie Ulrich-Urban and Mckayla Leveillee. Marge passed awaiting the birth of her first great grandson, Nicholas Leveillee and is survived many nieces and nephews.

We wish to thank the staff at the Lutheran Home and Vitas Hospice Care for their care and support during Marge's last days.
