Obituary

Louise Vaccaro Rapetske, 85, of Southbury died Friday May 16, 2014 at River Glen Health Care Center.
A former resident of Roxbury and Pompano Beach, Florida, Louise was the daughter of the late Joseph Vaccaro and Amelia Capetta Vaccaro. She was born on June 10, 1928 in West Haven, where she attended school and met her late husband John J. Rapetske. They married in 1948. As a young woman, she worked for Southern New England Telephone Company. She and her husband grew a successful business, had two daughters, and then moved to Roxbury in 1969. Louise was a wonderful homemaker and mother. She was a gourmet cook, hosting many memorable dinner parties for family and friends. She took pride in decorating her home, enjoyed ceramics, ice skating, swimming, and the beach. Having a very active social life, she loved fashion and always looked her best. She took pleasure in traveling with her husband to many far off places and also enjoyed taking trips with friends, and church groups. She was a member of Christ Church in Roxbury, where she sang in the choir; having fond memories of the people and church events she took part in. Louise cherished the time spent with her granddaughter. She also adored her Labrador retrievers, Oliver and Amber whose antics brought her great joy.
She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Korowotny and her husband Gary of Woodbury; her daughter Lorrie Abrams and her husband Edward of Roxbury and her granddaughter Kristen Korowotny Deschino and husband Kenneth of Castiac, CA, along with two nieces Marilyn Gaa and Joyce Smith. She was predeceased by her sister Marie Smith Angel.
