Louise Thomas Lorensen Forbes, 86, of Southbury, Connecticut, formerly of Ft. Myers, Florida, died February 5, 2016 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was the wife of the late Louis H. Lorensen Jr. and the late Ernest E. Forbes.
Louise was born May 7, 1929 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Arthur C. Thomas & Margaret [Sharpe] Thomas. She grew up in Watertown, CT., graduated from Watertown High School, attended Middlebury College, Vermont, and graduated from Southern Connecticut State University, New Haven, CT. in 1974 with a Masters in Science, Psychology. She loved working with people, especially children, and worked in her field until her retirement. She touched many lives.
Louise loved sailing, and spent years living aboard a sailboat, traveling around Florida. She was a Hospice and Alzheimer's Volunteer for many years. She had a lifelong love of reading and learning. Sociable & outgoing, Louise made friends where ever she went, and cared deeply for her family and friends. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved singing, whether in church or karaoke. Louise was a talented knitter, knitting all kinds of things for friends and family.
She is survived by her children, Katherine Lorensen and husband, Clark Bennett, of Bethlehem; Jon Lorensen and wife, Melissa, of Boca Raton, Fl.; Frederick Lorensen and wife, Joyce, of Summerland Key, FL.; Marianna Lorensen of Southbury, CT.; and Lucinda Hart and husband, Edward, of Woodbury. Grandchildren: Jon Lorensen II of Southbury; Analisa Amoroso-DeMartino and husband Michael, of Bethlehem; Anthony J. Amoroso III and his fiancée, Kristina Rinaldi, of Bethlehem; John Carroll of Southbury; and Thomas and Rachylle Hart of Woodbury. Great Grandchildren: Logan & Colton Lorensen of Southbury, and Katherine Mary Amoroso of Bethlehem. Nieces: Anne Thomas Oversier and her husband Kees, of Glen Arm, MD.; and Janet Thomas Boccalini and her husband, John, of Richmond, NH.
Louise was predeceased by her son Louis H. Lorensen III and her brothers, Truman and Seldon Thomas.
