Obituary

Louise (Giordano) Kimball, of Southbury, CT passed peacefully on December 7, 2020 at the age of 93. Louise was born to John and Angelina Giordano in the neighborhood of Rosebank in Staten Island, NY where she resided for most of her life. In 1948 Louise married her husband, William Kimball of Westerleigh, Staten Island, who predeceased her in 1995. As the third of eight children, Louise was predeceased by her brothers Fred and Louis Giordano and her sisters Ann (GiGi) DeFreitas, Beatrice DeFreitas and Mildred Giordano. Louise is survived by her brother John Giordano and her sister Rosalie Plevrites. Louise is also survived by her son and daughter in law, Drs. William and Liann Kimball of Southbury and by three granddaughters and their husbands: Dr. Lauren Kimball and Frank Tobin, Dr. Meghan and Charles Woodard and Natalie and Stefan Tessoun. In July of this year Louise became a great grandmother to Amelia Adeline Woodard.

After graduating from McKee High School Louise worked for approximately 10 years as a bookkeeper at Weissglass Dairy, departing in 1958 to assume her favorite role as a mother and homemaker. Louise was a natural with children. In addition to raising her son, Louise regularly looked after three granddaughters and the children of her nephews, nieces and friends. Louise enjoyed numerous crafts. As one might expect, knitting baby clothes was one of her specialties. Louise also loved road trips. Together with her husband and soul mate Bill, she traveled extensively throughout New York State and New England. They had a fondness for natural beauty and delighted in exploring the road less traveled. They developed friendships with shopkeepers, innkeepers and restaurant staff far and wide.

Louise's family will responsibly gather at her burial site at Moravian Cemetery on Staten Island. Plans for a celebration of her extraordinary life will be deferred until it is safe to do so. In these difficult times please consider a donation to Meals on Wheels of Staten Island or your local food pantry.

Munson Lovetere Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements. Please visit www.munsonloveterefuneralhome.com
