Obituary


James Lewis Parmelee, 91, of Bethlehem died Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was the husband of Adela Parmelee. Lou was born October 26, 1919 in Waterbury, son of the late James Thompson and Louise Judd (Fontaine) Parmelee. He lived most of his life in Bethlehem and owned and operated a lawn mower sales and service business. Lou enjoyed antique cars. His pride and joy was his 1912 Model T Ford Touring Car and was a founding member of the Connecticut Crankin' Yanks Car Club. His hobbies included working on gas engines, bee keeping and bowling. He belonged to the George Knox Bowling League at Thomaston Lanes and was the oldest active bowler in the league, bowling until he was 89. Besides his wife of 58 years, he is survived by a son, Robert Parmelee of Bethlehem; two daughters, Jamie Norris and her husband John of Palm Coast, FL and Joan Arnold and her husband Chris of Naugatuck; 4 grandchildren, Christopher and Jennifer McMillen and Chris and Scott Arnold; numerous nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his siblings, Gladys Kaschel, Earle Parmelee, Hazel Judson, Ralph Parmelee, Carolyn Wheeler, and Charles Parmelee.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethlehem Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 401, Bethlehem 06751.

Cemetery: Bethlehem Cemetery

Location: Munson-Lovetere Woodbury

Services: Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 18 immediatlely following the calling hours at the Bethlehem Cemetery, Bethlehem.

Visitation: Calling hours will be held Saturday, December 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School St.
