Obituary

Lorraine (Duch) Hicks, 79, of Woodbury CT, formally of Plant City Florida, beloved wife of late Thomas Hicks, passed away peacefully on December 18th after a brief, but hard-fought battle with cancer and the vicious China-Covid virus. Lorraine was born in Bridgeport at St. Vincent's Hospital on August 2nd, 1942 to Parents Frank and Anna (Norco) Duch. Lorraine and Tom lived in Bridgeport until the birth of their son Thomas in 1969 when they moved to Prospect to raise their family. Lorraine was a member of St. Anthony's Parish and a member of the Ladies Guild. She was a member of the Prospect Pop Warner Football League for years including cheerleading coach and team mom. She was a long-time employee of St. Mary's Hospital where she was the manager of the gift shop and a hospital volunteer for years. She was 20 year+ employee of Lowes in both Connecticut and Florida. Lorraine always appreciated all the support and understanding Lowes gave her family. Especially during the passing of both her husband Thomas and her son Thomas. Lorraine loved traveling with her family, her favorite place to travel was the "Happiest Place On Earth" ,Disney World in Florida. A tradition her daughter and son in law have carried on with their own children. Lorraine was a LIFELONG Dallas Cowboy Fan and LOVED cheering and YELLING at every game she could, especially when they were winning over the Eagles and the Giants!!!! Lorraine and Tom moved to Florida in the 80's and loved spending time fishing with friends and especially their (late) son Tom. Salt water or fresh water didn't matter! "Any bad day fishing is better than a good day at work!!" The family took time turns spending Christmas in CT and surprising Gramma and Grandpa for Christmas in Florida, which was the happiest surprise ever!! The yearly "Family Picnic's" at Shane and Lori's house were a special time for everyone BUT especially for Gramma who wanted nothing more than to be with family, friends, and Lobster Rolls from Frankies Hot Dogs!! Lorraine is survived by her daughter Lori and son in law Shane in Woodbury and her daughter Anne and husband David from Colorado. Her cherished and loved grandsons, Tyler, Shane Jr. Austin and Logan AKA BUBBA. She was predeceased by her son Thomas, and we know she is with him and our dad now. In lieu of flowers, Lorraine has a special place in heart for the charity, Give Kids The World Village in Florida. Bubba and his whole family spent the most amazing week ever there! THANK YOU to everyone for your prayers, hugs, wishes and love you sent through this very sad time. Please smile when think of "Mom" and "Gramma" because that is exactly what she would want.
