LORETTA PALUMBO passed away on Monday, October 3rd at the River Glen care center in Southbury, CT at the age of 73.
Born on August 19, 1944 in The Bronx, NY to father Joseph M. Palumbo and mother Euginia Palumbo, Loretta was the valedictorian of her Roosevelt High School graduating class of 1962. She married Peter Strausser and gave birth to her only son Robert in February, 1967. Her only nephew, Joseph, still lives The Bronx.
She worked as a bookkeeper and private accountant for most of her adult life, retiring in 2010. She was an active member in her church and church affiliated communities. She celebrated her new life and recovery on November, 1977, rejoicing in 39 years of sobriety. She loved to cook good Italian food and made and sold the single best New York style cheesecake you've ever tasted. She was an oil painter of still life and landscapes. She was a highly skilled seamstress and created clothing, quilts, Afghans, curtains, valences, needlepoint, crewel, and ceramics.

Services: Memorial services will be held on Saturday, 10/15, 5: 30pm, at Christ the Savior Orthodox Church, 1070 Roxbury Rd., Southbury, CT, and Sunday, 10/16, 2: 00pm at The United Church of Christ, 281 Main St., Southbury, where her ashes will be placed in their mausoleum.
