LORETTA T. CESARE

WOODBURY- Loretta (Torrieri) Cesare, 78, of Woodbury, died Thursday, August 5, 2010 at her home. She was the wife of Frank C. Cesare.

Mrs. Cesare was born July 23, 1932 in Mount Vernon, NY, daughter of the late Domenick and Rose (Greco) Torrieri and has resided in Woodbury since 1971. She graduated from St. Gabriel's High School, New Rochelle, NY in 1950, Good Counsel College, White Plains, NY and also from SUNY College, New Paltz, NY where she received her Masters degree in Education. Mrs. Cesare was a teacher having retired from Woodbury Public schools. She was also employed by the Voices Newspaper, having worked for several years in its proof reading department.

Mrs. Cesare was a communicant of St. Teresa of Avila Church and was member of its choir, Women's Guild and its Hospital and Convalescent Home Ministries. She was past member of Good Counsel College Alumni; past president of the Holy Cross High School Mother's Club and was former member of the Board of Directors at the high school. She enjoyed playing the piano and knitting.

Besides her husband of over 53 years, she leaves two sons, Jon F. Cesare and his wife Celina of Terryville, CT, Marc F. Cesare and his wife Heidi of Brooklyn, NY, four daughters, Lisa A, Cesare and her husband Frank Cangelosi of Southbury, Elaine M. Cesare-Smith and her husband William of Reading, MA, Carla J. Cesare of New Haven, Marisa R. Seaman and her husband Peter of Oakville, a sister, Mary Ann Agro and her husband Charles of White Plains, NY, a great aunt, Filomena Tarantelli of Fishkill, NY, nine grandchildren, Thomas, Dennis and Kevin Smith, Maria Rose , Emma, Bridget and Tessa Cesare, Sandra and Stephen Cangelosi and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Harold Leever Cancer Center, 1175 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT 06708 or to the VNA Health at Home, Hospice Division, 27 Siemon Co. Drive, Watertown, CT 06795.

Cemetery: Mt. Olivet Cemetery

Location: Munson-Lovetere Southbury

Funeral: St. Teresa's Church

Services: A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 9th at 10 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Church, Main St. South, Woodbury.

Visitation: Friends may call the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main St. North on Sunday from 2-5 p.m.
