Lois (Schauman) Foley passed away on Monday, March 4, 2013, at 98 years of age. Lois was born in Rochester, New York on December 28, 1914. She resided at Seabury Retirement Community in Bloomfield, CT. She was graduated from Keuka College in 1937 with a degree in English and also studied music at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester. Lois then married her husband of over 53 years, the Reverend Jackson W. Foley. From that time until his death in 1993, she partnered with him in ministering to his congregations. Their longest service was during his tenure as Rector of Christ Church in Watertown, Connecticut where they lived for nearly 20 years. There, she gave her beautiful voice to the choir, tended to programs for women and children of the parish, and hosted many finely cooked and served dinners to their friends and family. She pursued her love of music through helping out with church choirs and singing in the Waterbury Symphony Chorale. Cheerful, gracious and articulate, she made many friends with whom she stayed in touch into her later years. Lois and her husband were among the first residents of Seabury and, after his death, Lois lived there for the remaining 21 years of her life. Lois leaves two devoted sons, Jackson W. Foley, Jr. of South Glastonbury and Thomas R. Foley of West Hartford and one grandson, Tomas G Foley of West Hartford. She was pre-deceased by her parents Emil and Minnie Schauman, her brother, Robert W. Schauman, and many good friends. Jack and Tom are grateful to the staff at Seabury's Brewer Center for the care given to Lois in the last few years of her life.
