Southbury -
Mr. Lloyd Fleischman, 91, of Heritage Village died Tuesday Jan. 16, 2007 at River Glen Health Care Center in Southbury. He was the husband of Bess L. (Zimbel) Fleischman.
Mr. Fleischman was born October 23, 1915 in Jersey City, NJ son of the late Jacob and Minnie (Skalka) Fleischman. He studied Architecture at Cooper Union in NYC and joined the Gruzen Architectural Firm. He was a project architect on school buildings including Wingate High School in Brooklyn, Junior High School 22 in Manhattan and the High School for Printing Trades in Manhattan. He was also the Project Architect for the Federal Detention Center in Manhattan. A Veteran of the US Army Air Corps, he served as a pilot in WW II. From 1943 - 1944 he flew P.39 planes to Alaska. The USSR used them in Europe VS Germany. From 1944 - 1945 he flew transport cargo from India to China. He was a resident of West Orange, NJ before moving to Heritage Village in Southbury.
Besides his loving wife to whom he married in 1947, he was the proud father of his son Mark, his daughter Laurie and her husband Hilary Fried. Also surviving are his grandsons Ben and David Fried.
