IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda
Anderson
October 10, 1947 – January 11, 2020
Linda A. Anderson, 72, of Waterford passed away peacefully January 11, 2020 at her home at Atria Crossroads Place, surrounded by her loved ones.
Linda was born October 10,1947 to the late Thomas and Rose Retallick of Washington, CT. She was a 1965 graduate of Washington High School. She was a longtime resident of Woodbury, moving there in 1970, until her declining health brought her closer to her daughter.
She was the beloved wife of the late Andy Anderson, the love of her life whom she shared many years with. In 1986 Linda was named a local heroine and received the Hometown Hero award for her dedication and volunteerism with the towns Emergency Services organizations. She was a member of the Woodbury Ambulance (EMT), the volunteer fire department women's auxiliary, Woodbury/Bethlehem youth council and served as town Director of Civil preparedness. It has been quoted that her pleasant manner and ready smile were true assets to her volunteer duties and she was often found extending far beyond her responsibilities. In 1988 she became Woodbury's first female local constable.
In 1992 Linda was awarded the Bernard Rosenberg Award for coordinating the Woodbury's food pantry, and the loan closet, which enables residents to access medical equipment. Linda dedicated 32 years to the Town of Woodbury beginning as a part time police dispatcher. She worked her way up and retired as the Administrative Assistant to the First Selectman, in which she worked under 7 administrations. Her early retirement time was spent with her late husband touring on his Honda Goldwing, enjoying the outdoors, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Christy Cohen of Niantic and granddaughter Samantha, son Stephen Tooth of Naugatuck, granddaughter Brittany Tooth and great-granddaughter Brandy Morris of Woodbury, and grandsons Jeremy Tooth of Naugatuck and Brandon Watson-Tooth of Wolcott; brothers John Retallick of Vermont, Sherman Retallick of Connecticut and her loving sister and best friend Doris Waldron of Marbledale. She was predeceased by her sister Shirley Pokrywka and brothers Francis, Louis and Leonard Retallick.
