Mr. Leroy E. Townsend, 72, of Woodbury and formerly of Middlebury, died Wednesday October 17, 2007 at his home. He was the husband of Esther (Terrell) Townsend.
Mr. Townsend was born February 27, 1935 in Waterbury, CT son of the late Harold and Edna (France) Townsend. He was also predeceased by his step-mother Dorothy (Tyrrell) Townsend. He was a veteran of the US National Guard and was a US Army peacetime veteran. He worked as a Union Laborer for many years at F.B. Mattson and O & G Industries. He was a member of the American Legion, Post #195, in Oakville, Ct.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by a sister Lois Perock of Naugatuck, two brothers Leland Townsend of Middlebury and Paul Townsend of Watertown, a stepdaughter Deborah Granger of Hollis, ME, a step son David Daniels of Woodbury, 4 granddaughters and 2 great-granddaughters.

Services: A graveside service will be held on Saturday October 20, 2007 at 10am at New North Cemetery, Washington Ave., Woodbury, Ct.
