Obituary

LeRoy Anderson, 91, of New Milford, CT, passed away peacefully at home on January 30, 2017.

LeRoy was born on August 26, 1925 to Milburn and Willie Pearl (Venson) Anderson in Hartsborne, Oklahoma. He married the love of his life, Marion "Kitty" (Borders) Anderson on July 11, 1953 in Sand Springs, OK.

LeRoy started out life as a farmer in Mannford, Oklahoma but he worked hard and made his way into finance; he graduated from the University of Oklahoma and was proud to be a Boomer Sooner. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was a Captain in the Army upon his honorable discharge.

LeRoy had a long and rewarding career with Exxon Research and Engineering in Florham Park, New Jersey for 35 years, when he retired, he was the Chief Financial Advisor. LeRoy was an avid golfer and bowler, he spent many Saturdays on the golf course and Sundays in the bowling ally doing what he loved to do.

After retiring, he and Kitty moved up to Southbury, CT to be close to their grandchildren.  LeRoy quickly jumped into the activities that Heritage Village had to offer and he took up wood working.  He was also elected to be the treasurer of Heritage Village, only to follow it up with becoming the vice president and president for several years.

LeRoy was more than happy to volunteer his time at the local elementary school, Gainfield School, as a mentor in their Guidance Program. He worked with children who had learning and emotional problems.

LeRoy is preceded in death by his wife Kitty, son Steven Anderson and daughter Sharon Anderson.

He was the loving father of Elaine Bock and her husband Tom, Leslie Sarich and her husband Paul, both of New Milford, CT.

He was blessed with and loved greatly his grandchildren,  Jessica (Bock) Hopkins and her husband Mark, of Norwalk CT, Lisa (Bock) Fann and her husband Lee, of Raleigh NC, Eric Anderson of Bantam CT, Max and Abbey Sarich of New Milford  CT and great-granddaughter, Louie Michele Hopkins.

He was the loving brother to Willard Anderson, Juanita Tally, Thelma Sivil, Gladys Ammon, Peggy Donaldson, Bette Steinmeyer and Patricia Spears and a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 3 pm to 6 pm Friday, February 3, 2017 at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main Street North, Southbury, CT 06488.  A short service will follow at 6. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to a.charity of your choice.
