ROXBURY- Leonie M. Parsons, 96, of Roxbury, CT, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 6, 2012 among friends and family at her home. She was predeceased by her husband Geddes Parsons.

Mrs. Parsons was born August 25, 1916 in Waterbury, CT, daughter of the late Samuel P. and Leonie (Brown) Williams. She resided in Roxbury full time since 1955 and prior as a summer
resident since 1943.

Mrs. Parsons is survived by her son John O. (J.O.) White, Jr. of Holderness, NH, two grandchildren, Jami W. Lyford and John W. White, three great grandchildren, Felecia, Taylor and Rachel Lyford, three step daughters, Sallie Boody of Old Saybrook, CT, Edith Gengras of Bloomfield, CT, and Martha Lavendiere of Plainville, CT.

She was predeceased by a step daughter, Julie Gengras, two brothers, Samuel and James (J.B.) and sister, Rachael Williams.

During her life, she served on the National Board of Directors of Girls Club of America, Inc., for 22 years, retiring as Vice Chairperson in 1979. She also established, owned and operated Country Interiors, Inc., a full service interior decorating business. Upon her retirement from Country Interiors, she continued her expertise in home decorating by building, along with her late husband and furnishing life like doll houses.

Mrs. Parsons was involved with many non-profit enterprises, including the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, CT and the Roxbury Congregational Church. She was an avid needle pointer, once completing a fifteen stair tread, all of needlepoint. The family wishes to thank the New Milford VNA and also the Cares Team at Danbury Hospital.

Services: A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 21st at 11 a.m. at the Roxbury Congregational Church, 24 Church St. Roxbury.
