Mrs. Leona (Oppel) Griffin, 67, of Bacon Pond Rd., died Wednesday August 30th at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. She was the wife of Daniel N. Griffin Sr.
Mrs. Griffin was born July 21, 1939 daughter of Florence Collins and the late Victor Oppel. She was a resident of Woodbury for over 40 years and worked at Hubbell Plastics in Newtown as an inspector. She then worked for Hickory Hill Rest Home in Woodbury as an aide.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Daniel, 4 daughters, Brenda Wrigley, Karen Spino, Lori Marklewitz and Wendy Anderson, a step-son Daniel Jr., 5 grandchildren, Bill Jr. and Kristy Harrison, Brian Marklewitz, Mark Jr., and Justin Anderson. Leona was the oldest of 6, she leaves her mother Florence Collins, Robert Oppel, Victor Oppel, Gail Jackson, Delores Albo and Linda Papillon.
Calling hours will be held Sunday September 2nd from 4-7pm at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson - Lovetere, 2 School St, Route 6.
