Bethlehem- Leon Bouteiller Jr., 86, passed away on March 13, 2023 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington.

Leon was born September 12, 1936 in Derby, the son of the late Leon Bouteiller Sr. and Ida (Rublemann) Bouteiller.

Leon is survived by his daughter Amy Roberts and husband Curtis of Lakeland, FL., his two granddaughters Brandi and Angie Bouteiller of Avon and three grandsons David, Jacob, and Leon Roberts of Lakeland, FL.

Leon was predeceased by his beautiful wife, Patricia and his son, John.

Leon grew up in the Seymour area, attended Seymour schools and graduated from Seymour High School. After graduation Leon proudly served his country for 4 years in the US Marine Corps. After his time in the service, he met and married his beloved wife in 1962. Leon went into the construction business with his brother and father-in-law, building several homes in the Arrowhead Point Community on Candlewood Lake. It was during that time he was introduced to flying planes and went on to earn his pilot and flight instructor certifications. Leon worked mainly as a private charter pilot out of Oxford Airport. He also attended Western Connecticut State University earning a bachelor's degree in History.

Leon loved the outdoors and took every opportunity to enjoy biking, hiking, boating, fishing, skiing, and ice skating. He was a member of the Watertown Skating Club. Leon loved cars especially Buick and TR4 models and restored many over the years.  He would often enter his restored cars in shows. Several years ago, he became interested in model trains,so much so, that he and Pat worked together to build a model train room in their home. Leon was a proud member of the American Legion  Post 146.

A private burial will take place at a later date. To honor Leon's memory, donations can be made to the American Legion Post 146 (22 Main St N. Bethlehem, CT 06751) or Bethlehem Volunteer Ambulance Association (P.O. Box 401 Bethlehem, CT).
