WOODBURY -
Retired with over 50 years in the auto industry

Meehan, Leon Thomas, 81 of Middle Road Turnpike in Woodbury, CT died at his home surrounded by his family on January 18, 2015. Born on February 7, 1933 in Waterbury, CT Leon was the son of the late Joseph J. Meehan and Josephine (Barthow) Meehan. He was the husband of 59 years to Hazel A. (Platt) Meehan since January 29, 1955.

Mr. Meehan was a graduate of Wilby High School and Kaynor Technical School. And he retired from the automotive service industry with over 50 years of dedicated service, spending 25 years at Loehmann's in Waterbury and 25 years at the former Wes Cadillac in Waterbury where he was employed as the Parts Manager.

He had an avid love for playing horseshoes and he was an enthusiastic member of the Southbury Men's Horseshoe League, he also enjoyed remote control model airplanes and square-dancing and he was a lifetime member of the Rocking Roosters Square Dance Club with his wife. He enjoyed roller-skating and was employed as an instructor at Lake Quassapaug in Middlebury and Hamilton Park in Waterbury.

Besides his wife Hazel he is survived by his children, Thomas J. Meehan and his fiancé©e Cynthia Granata of Watertown; his daughter Debra Marquis and her former husband Ricky Marquis both of Woodbury; and son Robert L. Meehan and his wife Lisa of East Hartford. He also leaves behind his grandchildren; Michael J. Marquis, Jason T. Meehan, Ryan T. Meehan, Kyle A. Pomeroy, and Colby D. Pomeroy as well as his sister Madeline Christoferson of Stratford and his brother Timothy P Meehan of Prospect. He was predeceased by his brothers; PFC. Joseph J. Meehan and William L. Meehan and his beloved pets and companions; Champ his Collie and Dallas his Golden Retriever.

Burial will be in New North Cemetery in Woodbury, CT in the spring.

Services: A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 11: 00 a.m. at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson Lovetere, 2 School St. Calling hours will be from 9: 00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the spring

Visitation: Calling hours Saturday from 9: 00 a.m. until 11: 00 a.m
