Southbury- Leo Ditkoff, 101, of Heritage Village, died Monday, February 10 at home after declining health of three years. His was the loving husband to the late Shirley Ditkoff, who passed on February 11, 2010.
He was born November 30, 1923, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Morris and Esther Ditkoff. After graduating from high school, he attended the Baruch School, the University of City College and the University of New York. His education was interrupted during World War II, when he served in the Army, serving as a Technical Sergeant in France. He resumed his education after the war, graduating with a B.B.A. in Accounting. He later passed the CPA examination.
In addition to his military service, Mr. Ditkoff worked for the U.S. government for 19 years at the Internal Revenue Service, rising to Group Chief. He left the government in 1969 and became the CFO of the First Republic Corporation of America in Manhattan, retiring in 1988. Shortly after retirement in 1988, he and his wife moved to Heritage Village. He served on the Village's Master Board of Directors for several years.
He and Shirley loved to travel and visited countries all over the world. He was an avid photographer, and won several awards at Village photography shows.
He will be greatly missed by his sister Laura, his sons Michael, Andy, and Larry, his daughter-in-law Beth, his grandson Matt and his wife Kayla, and his granddaughter Sarah and her husband Drew.
His death is a great loss to his family and those who knew him. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 644A Heritage Village from 1:00pm until 4:00 pm. To leave an online condolence, please visit munsonloveterefuneralhome.com.
