Kevin F. Smith, age 59, entered into rest on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. He resided in Oxford and was a graduate of Holy Cross High School in Waterbury.
He is the beloved son of Dorothy (Worobel) Smith, brother of Tammy (Smith) Horn, and uncle to Jessica (Horn) Saunders (husband Devin), Christopher Horn, and Jonathan Horn. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his father, Clifford E. Smith.
Kevin joined his father’s business, A&S Excavation, at a young age, before succeeding him as owner. A skilled heavy equipment operator, he also held positions with Enviroshield and Grasso Companies. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit and generous nature. He was always willing to lend a hand, helping friends and family as well as donating his time to help those he did not know. He loved the outdoors, camping, hiking, skiing and road trips. Most of all he loved spending time with his niece and nephews and making them laugh.
A funeral service will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Road in Oxford, at 11:00 am on Friday, April 17th. Burial will be at Mountain Meadow Cemetery, Seymour following the Mass. Calling hours will be from 10:00-11:00 am at St. Thomas prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to BHcare via their website at BHcare.org or check mailed to 127 Washington Avenue Third Floor West North Haven, CT 06473.
