Kenneth Lawrence Wilkinson Jr. of Southbury, CT died peacefully on Monday, May 9, 2011. He leaves his beloved wife of 74 years, Heloise (Weber) and his devoted children, Kate W. McGarry (John) of Michigan; Peter A. Wilkinson (Kit) of New Haven; Christine W. Aulicino of Southbury; and Ann W. West (Hugh) of California. He was very proud of and adored eight his grandchildren, John E. McGarry (Michele Wernli) of Manhattan; Andrew L. McGarry of Hawaii; Michael K. Wilkinson and Alicia W. Mehr (Joel) of Washington, DC; Claire E. Aulicino (Jared Goldberg) of Florida; Matthew A. Aulicino of Los Angeles; Sophia K. West and Elizabeth C. West of California. He also leaves six great-grandchildren.
Kenneth was born on June 30, 1914 to Kenneth Lawrence Wilkinson Sr. and Norma Schmidt Wilkinson in East Orange, NJ. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert and his sister Edith W. Zinggeler.
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, he was a member of the winning 1936 rowing crew, an achievement he spoke of with pride all his life. He spent his career in international marketing for the aviation industry.
After his retirement, Kenneth was involved in numerous community activities in Newtown, including Meals on Wheels and the Newtown Library. In 2005, he and Heloise moved to The Watermark at East Hill in Southbury, CT where he enjoyed making new friends and participating in sports activities.
