Kenneth G. LaFond, 85, of Grace Meadows, Southbury, CT, formerly of Shelton and Tucson, AZ, died Monday, August 28 at Griffin Hospital in Derby. He was the husband of Helen Turner LaFond. Mr. LaFond was born April 21, 1921 in Mansonville, Quebec, Canada, son of the late George and Bessie Aiken LaFond. Before retirement, Mr. LaFond was a tool maker for the Pop Rivet Division of the United Shoe Machine Company in Shelton. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in the Eastern Mandates, Southern Philippines and Ryukyus during WW II. He was a former member and deacon of the Shelton Congregational Church, and a life member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Donna York and her husband David R. York of Southbury, and 3 grandchildren, Shane York, Brett LaFond and Jeanine Hannon and her husband Dirk, 1 great grandson, Champ Hannon. Mr. LaFond was pre-deceased by a son, Lawrence LaFond, a brother, Lawrence LaFond and a grandson, David R. York. Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 2 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fair View Cemetery, Bethel, VT. Memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Hospice, 680 Bridgeport Avenue, Shelton, CT 06484. The Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main St. North, is in charge of arrangements.
