Kathlyn (Kay) Freeman passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at River Glen Healthcare Center. She was the daughter of Gertrude and Thomas Roper and the wife of Walter Joseph Freeman who predeceased her in 1996. Kay was born in the Bronx, N.Y. on November 28, 1920. She resided in the Bronx until 1950 when she, her husband, and two daughters moved to Yonkers, N.Y. She resided in Yonkers until 1979. During that time she worked as a bookkeeper for Robert Hall Clothes (1956-1967), Marc Buick (1968-1976), and Pepe Motors (1976-1979). In 1979, Kay and her husband relocated to Tarpon Springs, Florida where they spent many happy years. In 1999, Kay moved to Heritage Village in Southbury, Ct where she lived with her daughter, Kathy. Kay was known for her beautiful handiwork including crocheted afghans that were given to family and friends and hand sewn and embroidered Christmas stockings for all her immediate family. Kay loved music, especially the popular catalog from the 1940s and 1950s and instilled that love in her daughters. Kay leaves her two daughters, Kathy Freeman of Southbury, CT, and Christine McDowell and her husband Edward of Brewster, N.Y. She also leaves three granddaughters, Meridith McDowell Choate and her husband Barry of Pawling, NY, Kim McDowell of Phoenix, AZ, Kristin McDowell Sloan and her husband Michael of San Diego, CA, and two great grandchildren, Mia Grace Cornis and Harrison Choate.
