Obituary

Katherine Louise Lorensen, CHt, RMT, CPK

October 24, 1949 – August 2, 2026

Katherine Louise Lorensen, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, died on August 2, 2026. She died peacefully at the age of 76 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was lovingly surrounded by her family at Regional Hospice Center in Danbury, Connecticut.

Katherine was born October 24, 1949, in Waterbury, Connecticut, to the late Louise Thomas and Louis Lorensen. She grew up in Bethlehem, Connecticut, and graduated from Watertown High School. She attended Northwestern Community College in Winsted, CT, earning an Associate’s degree in business.

Katherine began her career as a department manager at Sears in Torrington. She left Sears to raise her small children. Once her children were of school age, Katherine managed a dental practice in Newtown, CT for 16 years. Later on, she put all her life’s wisdom to work and completed her studies at the Institute of Kinlein. Katherine opened her counseling practice in 1992, helping countless people recognize their power within. In addition, Katherine was a Reiki Master Teacher and Hypnotherapist. These methodologies assisted her in her greatest life’s work: to help others heal. She was truly a source of light and love to everyone around her. Katherine was also a proud member of the Bethlehem Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the National Guild of Hypnotherapy.

Katherine married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, D. Clark Bennett, on October 1st, 1994. Together, they made their home in Bethlehem, Connecticut. She enjoyed traveling, especially to her favorite island, St. Maarten, where they vacationed for over 25 years. They enjoyed playing trivia on Tuesdays, inviting family and friends to join her team. Those lucky enough to count themselves in Katherine’s inner circle especially admired Katherine’s talents when planning parties, interior decorating, and outstanding organizational skills when helping with a move. She will be remembered most for her loyal dedication to her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, D. Clark Bennett; her children, Analisa Amoroso DeMartino (JJ Annable), Anthony John Amoroso III (Kristina Rinaldi); her siblings, Lucinda Hart (Ted) and their children Thomas and Rachylle, Marianna Lorensen and her son John Carroll, Fred Lorensen (Joyce), her grandchildren Tyler DeMartino (Kelly) and Brandon DeMartino (Kendra), Abby and Chase Rinaldi, and Katherine Amoroso; her nephew Jon Lorensen, II, and his children, Logan and Colton. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Theresa O’Neill; niece and nephew, Jon and Malisa O’Neill; and their sons, Jon and William O’Neill. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louise Forbes and Louis Lorensen; her brothers, Jon Lorensen and Louis H Lorensen, III; her aunt, Sally Lorensen; and her grandmother, Sarah Lorensen.
