Katharine "Kathie" A. Moyer, 82, of Heritage Village died Wednesday July 18th 2007 peacefully at her home. She was a beloved sister, aunt and friend.
Ms. Moyer was born February 24, 1925 in New Orleans, LA daughter of the late Philip A. and Jessie (McKean) Andrews. She was raised in New Rochelle, NY and was a graduate of The Ursuline School class of 1942.
Kathie retired from Time Magazine where she worked for many years. She started her career as a Secretary and was promoted to Manager of Employee and Retirement Benefits in Human Resources. She was very active in the Presbyterian Church of New Rochelle where she served both as Deacon and Elder, holding the position of Clerk of Session for several terms. She also taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. At the United Church of Christ in Southbury she was involved in numerous volunteer activities. She was also active in the Southbury Garden Club and the Heritage Village River Garden Club. Kathie enjoyed gardening, bird watching, cooking and baking. She had a wonderful sense of humor and her greatest joy came from serving others. She will be fondly remembered for her generosity and her beautiful smile.
She is survived by her two sisters, Julia N. Davey of Southbury and Jean A. Gregory of Rockville, MD, 3 nephews and 4 nieces, 8 grand nieces and 5 grand nephews, 1 great grand niece and 1 great grand nephew.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 21st at 2pm at the United Church of Christ, Main St. North, Southbury. Interment will take place in the Church's memorial wall following the service. The Southbury Funeral Home of Munson - Lovetere, 235 Main St. North, is in charge of arrangements.
