Katharine (Kaddy) Kunhardt Weise, 90, of Southbury passed away on February 8th, 2016 at home surrounded by her family.
Kaddy was born July 1, 1925 in New York City the daughter of the late George Farnham Kunhardt and Katharine Flagg Kunhardt of Washington Connecticut. She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband, Charles (Chuck) Richard Weise also of Washington Connecticut.
Kaddy grow up in Greenwich CT, attending both public and private schools prior to graduating from Southern Seminary and Junior College in Buena Vista Virginia. She relocated to Washington Connecticut with her parents in 1947 where she met Chuck. She worked as a secretary to the head of nursing at Waterbury Hospital until her marriage in 1949. Kaddy helped her husband manage Evergreen Farm, a dairy farm owned by Chuck's parents, Irene and Dr. Elwood Weise. After the early death of her husband, she taught nursery school at St John's Church in Washington and worked as a secretary at a local travel agency. Kaddy also volunteered as a den leader for her son's Cub Scout troop. She raised her children in Washington, Towson, Maryland, and Trumbull, Connecticut before building a home in Southbury, Connecticut. She volunteered for Trumbull Public Schools as a tutor. She loved the beach taking her family to Cape Cod and the New Jersey shore and then spending many summers at Hawks Nest Beach in Old Lyme Connecticut renting a cottage next door to her sister's ,Cynthia Kunhardt Almgren, rental. She had a lobster license and one pot where she would catch fresh lobster. Kaddy enjoyed reading, knitting, cross stitch, bowling, golf, paddle tennis, cross word puzzles, and watching the UCONN woman's basketball team. Kaddy loved dogs including showing her dogs and other family pets. She enjoyed gardening, having both vegetable and flower gardens most of her life.
Kaddy is survived by 3 children; Virginia Weise Clark and her husband Ronald E Clark of Haddam CT, Charles Richard Weise and his wife Sharon Folliet Weise of Southbury and Karen Weise Christie and her husband Cole Christie of Southbury. Kaddy has 7 grandchildren, Allison Nicklous and husband Francis of Old Saybrook CT, Jessica Clark of Palm Bay FL, Nathaniel Clark of Prague, Czech Republic, Daniel Weise and wife Brooke of Middlebury CT, Amanda Weise of Hudson MA, Nicole Christie of Southbury and Justin Christie of Bethlehem PA. Kaddy has 6 great grandsons and one great granddaughter. She is also survived by her younger brother Henry Kunhardt of Washington CT and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her older brother Robert Kunhardt of Maryland and her sister Cynthia Kunhardt Almgren of Essex, CT.
A special thanks to her aide who cared for Kaddy with such compassion to made those last 10 months special and thanks to those who helped her over the past several years. We could not have kept her home without their support. Also thanks to Western CT Hospice for their support during the last few months.

Services: Service at 1 on Saturday February 13, 2016 at the Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main Street North, Southbury, CT 06488. For distant relatives and friends, there will be a celebration of her life and burial at Mountain Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport CT in the spring with the exact time and date will be determined later.
Visitation: Calling hours are from 11: 00 A.M. to 1: 00 P.M. including a brief service at 1 on Saturday February 13, 2016 at the Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main Street North, Southbury, CT 06488.
