June Chugkowski Peterson, 72, died unexpectedly Saturday morning February 1st, 2025 in her Florida home in Crystal River. June was born in Queens, NY on June 15, 1952, the daughter of Michael and Carol (Beierman) Chugkowski.  A native of Westchester County, NY June had lived in FL for 9 years enjoying the fresh seafood, sunshine and company of her cousin Artie Klepp who resided a town over.

She graduated from Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua NY class of 1970. June obtained her nursing degree from Northeastern University in 1976 and later earned her master's degree in Counseling & Guidance in 1981 from Syracuse University. June started a private nursing agency in Syracuse, NY before becoming a full-time mom for her three children in Woodbury, Conn. June raised her children with great emphasis on education and joy both of equal importance. June loved gardening, canning, cooking, and dashing to Vermont for her favorite getaways with the kids. She was known for her unconditional kindness, positivity, and free nature.

June is survived by her daughters Eleni Peterson of Keene, NH and Athena Peterson and husband Christopher Capowich of Roxbury, CT, her brother Michael Chugkowski and sister-in-law Beatrice Chugkowski of Belmont, MA, sister-in-law Linda Archer Chugkowski and niece Sarah (Rob) Karrow of Northfield, VT, niece Sandra (Todd) Schweikert of East Montpelier, VT, sister Michelle Chugkowski-Goodger and brother-in-law Scott Goodger of Massapequa, NY.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 25. 2025 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., with a Connecticut Nurses Honor Guard Tribute starting at 6:30P.M. followed by closing prayers held at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home located 2 School St Woodbury, Connecticut 06798.
