Judith F. Strohm, 96, of Pomperaug Woods, Southbury, CT and formerly from Chappaqua, NY passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 2, 2026. She was born in Newton, MA on August 31, 1930. Judith was the daughter of F. Stuart Friend and Natalie S. Friend. She graduated from Newton High School, Bradford Jr. College and Iowa State University. On May 24th 1952, she married Paul E. Strohm from Clinton, Iowa. They were married for 60 years.

She was an active member of Pi Beta Phi sorority long after college. She was an active volunteer at The First Congregational Church in Chappaqua for many years, including the Barn Sale. She was a longtime volunteer at Craftsmen Unlimited in Bedford Hill, NY.

Judith is survived by her three children, Mark P. Strohm (Deborah), of Saginaw, MN, Margo Mann (Dwight) of Dover Plains, NY, Emily S. Bonn (Keith) of Bolton, CT. 6 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. Judith was preceded in death by her parents, sisters (Susan and Gretchen) and brothers (Frank and William).

As a child, she enjoyed her summers in Gloucester, MA. With her parents, sisters and brothers, grand-parents, aunts and uncles on the Annisquam River. Her last visit there was for her 90th birthday.Many a night, Judith and her brother Frank, would stay up into the wee hours of the night playing cards and telling family stories. If it was warm and sunny outside, you would find her laying in the sun. She liked the beach, making braided rugs, block printing, calligraphy, bowling and decorative painting. She was always impeccably dressed. Judith and Paul enjoyed traveling, many times by train. Judith was a kind and caring daughter, sibling, mother and friend to many. If you needed to get anywhere in a hurry, let her drive! A trait that her children learned.

A memorial service will be held at the United Church of Christ in Southbury, CT on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 12:00pm.
