IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Judith C.
Christie
August 4, 1943 – December 22, 2024
Loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
Watertown—It is with great sadness that the family of Judith C. Christie, age 81, of Watertown, shares the news of her peaceful passing on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Waterbury Hospital. She was the devoted wife of Gilbert (Gib) Christie for more than 60 years.
Judy was born August 4, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio, daughter of the late Robert and Katherine Schraff. She graduated from Olmsted Falls High School and earned her undergraduate degree in English and History from Marietta College. It was there that she met Gib, the love of her life.
She and Gib moved to Watertown in 1965, where they proudly raised their three sons. Judy was a passionate schoolteacher and writer, spending many years in the Watertown school system and writing innumerable articles and stories for local news publications. In her later years, she worked as a realtor for Bannon & Hebert. She was an avid golfer and a member of the Watertown Golf Club for many years, and even recorded a hole-in-one on the ninth hole!
In addition to her love of golf, Judy was a devoted fan of UCONN women's and men's basketball and enjoyed volunteering at the Watertown Senior Center and at the Watertown Library Book Nook.
Most of all, she was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother to her family.
Left to honor her legacy are her husband, Gilbert, her sons Douglas (Brenda), Jeffrey (Tina), and Jeremy (Lisa), her grandsons Reilly and Callum, her brother Robert Schraff and her sister Barbara Schraff, her sister-in-law Margery Christie, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Francis Yesenko and brother-in-law James Christie.
Judy's life will be celebrated at a later date to be determined by her family.
