Obituary

Judith "Judy" A. (Briggs) Von Holtz 82 of Southbury passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Judy was born in Bridgeport on June 22, 1942, to the late Samuel and Helen (Black) Briggs of Easton CT. Following her education in local schools, Judy started her working career at People's Bank in Bridgeport.

Judy married the love of her life Art in 1963, and soon after they started their family. They had two beautiful children, Deborah and Douglas.

After her children both started school, Judy went to work in the Region 15 school system in the cafeteria. After she left the school system, she went to work as a companion to a wonderful woman in Heritage Village. In 1985 she started her 25-year career at the Southbury Public Library.

Judy's love for her community included participating in her church choirs, first in Easton at Jesse Lee and then in Southbury at the United Church of Christ. In her later years she attended the South Britain Congregational Church. Judy had been a member of the Southbury Fireman's Association's Ladies Auxiliary, and the Red Hat Ladies Society, she also had spent many years as a Girl Scout Leader in Southbury.

Judy was preceded by her husband Art. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Deborah Sakocius, her granddaughter Heather Sakocius, both of Waterbury CT, her son Douglas and his wife Holly of Easton CT.

A celebration of life will be in the spring. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.munsonloveterefuneralhome.com
