IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph Anthony
Valentino
December 19, 1931 – May 5, 2024
Joseph A. Valentino, of Southbury, Connecticut led an incredible and fulfilling life. He was a lifelong educator who was highly admired by family and friends alike for his dedication to love and honor of our family and country. Growing up in New York City, he volunteered for the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War. Joseph then pursued his love of education, attending Fordham University for both his Bachelor and Master's degrees. He went on to become a history teacher at Gorton and Roosevelt High Schools in Yonkers, and later a revered administrator at Roosevelt H.S. He married his beloved Elizabeth in August 1961. Joseph was a devoted father, raising his three children in Pleasantville, New York. He instilled in his children the values of respect, high morals, and the importance of higher education. Joe supported his wife Betty through her own Master's achievement, and later in his retirement, was committed to encouraging the higher education of his four grandchildren. His memory was unmatched up until his final days. He recalled the full names of every friend and colleague in his lifetime as well as the date of every life event in the extended family. Joseph was a consummate student of history and an avid reader of biographical and historical texts, able to answer any question in world history. Joseph was born December 19, 1931, in Throgs Neck, The Bronx, New York. He passed away on May 5th, 2024.
