Joseph F. Tyrian, 78, of Oxford, Connecticut, passed away unexpectedly on June 12, 2025. A devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, National Guardsman, and respected financial executive, Joe lived a life rooted in family, service, and joy.
Born on December 9, 1946, Joe proudly served in the United States Army and National Guard following high school. He went on to graduate from St. Francis College in 1968 with a degree in Accounting and Finance, which launched a long and accomplished career. Joe served as Chief Financial Officer at United Cerebral Palsy of New York State, the Hospital of Saint Raphael in New Haven, and Affinity Healthcare, among others. His work was guided by compassion, integrity, and a commitment to helping others.
Joe was the beloved husband of Annette S. Tyrian, his wife of 55 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. He is survived by his son Bryan Tyrian and daughter-in-law Sue Tyrian of Torrington, CT, and their children Connor Tyrian, Isaac Edwards, Kaitlin Suckley, and Daniel Suckley; and by his daughter Karin Miller and son-in-law Robert Miller of Cortlandt Manor, NY, and their children Aidan, Landon, and Gavin Miller. Joe also leaves behind his devoted dog, Buttercup, who never left his side.
Joseph was deeply involved in every part of his children's and grandchildren's lives. Whether they needed something or simply wanted his presence, he was always there showing up with love, support, and pride. He never missed an opportunity to support his family.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2025 from 10:00 am until 11:30 am held at the Southbury location of Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home located 235 Main St. N. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 12:00 pm at St. Thomas the Apostle church in Oxford.
