Joseph Francis Connelly, 72, of Woodbury, died Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Waterbury Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of Rita (Perrier) Connelly. Joseph was born December 12, 1940 in Waterbury, son of the late Francis J. and Anna V. (LeRoy) Connelly. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury and served in the Army during the Viet Nam War. For over 38 years he worked for the Homer D. Bronson Company in Beacon Falls, retiring as Plant Manager. Joseph generously gave of his time to many organizations, including the Junior Achievement, American Legion Post 155 of Woodbury, the Little League and Indian Guides. His greatest joy was spending time with his family that he loved so much. Fond memories include family trips to Cape Cod where they would go floating on Dyer Pond. Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons, James P. Connelly, Joseph F. Connelly Jr. and his wife Kerstin and grandson Mark; his daughter Rita Connelly Calvano and her husband Emilio and grandchildren Isabella and Emilio Joseph. He also leaves many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Thomas W. Connelly.

Services: A mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 22 at 10: 00 a.m. at St. Teresa's Church, Main St. South, Woodbury. Burial with military honors will follow in Old North Cemetery, Woodbury.

Visitation: Calling hours are Wednesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School St.
