John Louis Tutko chose to spend his last days at home following a brief illness. He passed peacefully on September 2, 2015.
John was born March 21, 1939 in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania. He was predeceased by his parents - Violet Chupilo and John Joseph Tutko - and his older brother Bernard Joseph "Butch" Tutko. He is survived by his younger brother Robert and Sister-in-law Denise.
John graduated from Immaculate Heart High School in Fountain Springs, Pennsylvania and Western Connecticut State University with a degree in Business Management. John Served in the United States Coast Guard from 1956-1960. He spent many years working for American Can Company, James River Corporation and DATAHR. He retired from the Brookfield Board of Education one year ago where he developed many close friendships.
A very important part in John's life was his calling as a temple ordinance worker for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He also loved his time spent working as a volunteer for the Southbury Food Bank.
John's most precious activity was interacting with his grandchildren - Zachary Ryan, Olivia Lauren, Cole Aidan and Graham Jackson Tutko and a recent addition to his family Meghan, Maddy, Camden, Avilyn and Tansin Bright.
John is survived by his wife of fifty years - Celeste Soldivera Tutko - and his children and their spouses - John Joseph and Jean Norvig Tutko and Marissa and Darrin Bright.
His extended family includes his Brother-in-law Robert Soldivera and his family Susan, Michael, Reece and Thomas Kiesling; as well as his Sister and Brother-in-law Donna and Tom Leonhardt and their children Betsy and Brett Leonhardt and Samantha and Payton Leonhardt. John was especially close to his cousins Helene and Joe Stines.

Funeral: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Services: A Funeral service will take place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - 1021 Roxbury Road - Southbury, Connecticut, Tuesday September 8, 2015 at 11: 00 A.M. on Tuesday morning September 8, 2015. Services will be followed by a light lunch in the Cultural Hall. All are invited to attend. Burial will be private at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Southbury following the luncheon.
Visitation: A Viewing will take place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - 1021 Roxbury Road - Southbury, Connecticut, Tuesday September 8, 2015 from 10: 00 to 11: 00 AM.
