Obituary


The family of John Richard Paddock will celebrate his passing into life eternal. Born January 16, 1934 in Dundee, New York, John's life was full of family and friends. He was the son of Olin and Anna Laura (Fultz) Paddock, the fifth of ten children. He was known to all as Dick Paddock. Born and raised in Dundee, he was a graduate of Dundee Central School, class of 1951. He served two years in the Army and moved to Connecticut, where he wed and raised his family. Dick was employed by the Town of Woodbury, where he served many positions, including Building Inspector, Sanitarian and Assessor, retiring in 1996. He was a very active member in the North Congregational Church and served in the Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Dick was involved in numerous organizations and clubs, including the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, NCC Youth Pilgrim Fellowship and many school activities. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, gardening, woodworking, his train collection and traveling the country in his RV with his wife Marian and his beloved dog Renee. Dick always had a smile and a kind word for everyone, and would lend a helping hand to anyone, even a perfect stranger. John R. Paddock is survived by his wife Marian; four children, Joyce (and Bob) Vigue of Brookfield, David (and Carla) Paddock of Thomaston, Donna (and John) Franceskino of Dundee, NY, and Jeffrey (and Lisa) Paddock of Watertown; 9 grandchildren, Daniel, David and Deanna Vigue, Amanda (and Nicholas) Johnson, Ashley, Heather, Brooke and Paige Franceskino and Jeffrey Paddock Jr.; and 1 great grandson, Gabriel Nicholas Johnson. He also leaves three step children, Arnold Anderson, Jr. of Woodbury, John (and Jenny) Anderson of Tully, NY and Linda (and Jeffrey) Ice of Southbury; and 4 step grandchildren, Brian and Katie Ice and Scott and Amanda Anderson. He is also survived by five sisters, MaryLou (and Jack) Webster, Eleanor "Sis" (and Claude) Jayne, Jane Ellen (and Raymond) Miller, Betty Ann Hansen, Nancy (and Robert) Briggs; two brothers, Ralph (and Delores) Paddock and James (and Cindy) Paddock; a brother-in-law Herbert Thompson. He leaves numerous nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. In addition, he leaves his former wife and mother of his children, Eleanor Paddock, former brother and sister-in-law Edward and Sue Brown and former mother-in-law Margaret Brown, all of New Hampshire.
