John Leever, 80 years old, passed away peacefully at Pomperaug Woods in Southbury on Saturday July 15, 2023. He is predeceased by his parents, Harold and Ruth Ann Leever, who he loved deeply and spoke of them often. Surviving family are his sister Suzanne Hart of Massachusetts, brothers Tom Leever (and wife Julie) of North Carolina, Dan Leever (and wife Julie) of Colorado and Andy Leever (and wife Judy) of Bethlehem along with 11 nieces and nephews.

John graduated from Southbury Training School and worked for 38 years in the shipping department at MacDermid, Inc. in Waterbury, CT.  In his retirement, a lover of classic music and opera, he would attend concerts with Ruth Ann. In addition to residing in Southbury, he had a second home in Springfield, VT.  John helped Tom and Julie for several years to lead bicycle tours by driving the luggage van.

John enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycling, ATVs and traveling the world on Holland America Cruise Lines.  Many of the cruise line crew came to know and befriend John after his many trips.  John also enjoyed visiting San Remo and Annoulas in Woodbury and Nick's country Kitchen in Bethlehem, where everyone from the kitchen to the wait staff became his friend.  He often agreed with someone by saying, "Whatever floats your boat". He had a mischievous smile that will be missed by all who knew him.

A memorial gathering will take place August 9, 2023 11:30am until 12:30pm, attendees are invited to share memories of John at 12:15pm, at the Southbury location of Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home located 235 Main St. N. Southbury, CT.
