IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Michael
Kowalski
September 17, 1935 – October 20, 2025
John Michael Kowalski passed away on Monday, October 20th 2025 to eternal rest. John was born in Yonkers, NY on September 17th 1935 to the late Mary and Mikolay Kowalski. He was a devoted husband to his late wife Dorothy, to whom he was married for 52 years. He is survived by his daughter Jan Michelle Mustin and her husband, Robert Daniel Mustin of Danbury, CT and daughter Kim Louise Bailey of Garrison, NY and her partner Jeffrey Wittner of Bloomfield, NJ. Along with his two beloved grandchildren, Sarah and Zachary Bailey who will cherish his memory.
John was a brilliant architect and many of the buildings in and around Yonkers were touched by his design. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati and worked until his retirement from the Ginsberg Development Corp in Yonkers. Even after retirement you would see him at his home drafting table surrounded by stacks and rolls of plans, drafting designs for friends and family – just a little side job he'd say.
John was an avid bowler and participated in various leagues throughout his life, bowling his last game just two weeks before he passed. He was an active member of the Heritage Village community and cherished his "last Thursday of the month Club" lunches with friends. John was always ready to assist anyone who needed it with a ride or a helping hand. Although John lived in Yonkers, NY. Cape Cod Massachusetts and finally Southbury, CT, John was always a football fan, following the Giants and the Patriots through good years and bad.
He loved classical music and enjoyed trips up to Tanglewood for various concerts. An avid fan of puzzles, John always had a jigsaw puzzle in progress laid out on a table somewhere along with the current day's newspaper folded next to a chair with the crossword and the jumble done – always in pen, never in pencil.
John was a devoted husband, a loving and attentive father, a doting and proud Grandpa, a helpful neighbor and a kind friend to everyone he met. If you were blessed to know John, your life will be forever richer for it.
John won his battle with life.
