John J. Deschino, 84, of Woodbury, widower of his high school sweetheart and
wife of 45 years, Marjorie (Weed) Deschino, passed away Saturday, May 3,
2014, while vacationing in the Dominican Republic.
John was born March 23, 1930, in Waterbury and was the son of the late Louis J.
and Fanny (Bergantino) Deschino. Upon graduating Post College with an
Associates Degree, John served his country in the Korean War. A lifelong
resident of Woodbury and owner of Deschino's Inc., a family owned quality
clothing store with expert tailoring by John himself for over 40 years. John held
many positions on town committees, belonged to the First Congregational
Church of Woodbury, was a member of the Woodbury Business Association and
one of the original founders of the Woodbury Ambulance Association,
volunteering for over 20 years and a Mason for 50 years plus. While a 59 year
member of the Woodbury Lions Club, he held many offices including President
and received awards for Ambassador of Sight and the most highest award, the
Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, which was to be presented to John this June.
Upon his "retirement" from his clothing store, John enjoyed his position as a real
estate agent for over 25 years.
John is survived by his three children, Kenneth and wife Deborah (Mapp) of
Woodbury, Sandra Deschino of Waterbury, and Beverly of Woodbury, widow of
the late David G. Carlone; five grandsons, Kenneth and his wife Kristen
(Korowotny) of California, Robert of Woodbury, Darrick Carlone of New Jersey,
Nicholas and Matthew Carlone of Woodbury, his sister Velma Pugliese and
husband Rocco of Woodbury, his dear friend Gayle Goetschius of Woodbury, and
several aunts, nieces, and nephews.

Location: Munson-Lovetere Woodbury

Funeral: 1st Congregational Church of Woodbury

Services: A celebration of John's life will be held Tuesday, May 13 at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, 214 Main Street South, Woodbury. Burial with full military honors will follow in the New North Cemetery in Woodbury.

Visitation: Family and friends may call at the Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 2 School Street, Woodbury, Monday, May 12 from 4 to 8 p.m.
