JOHN F. CARRAGAN

WOODBURY- Mr. John F. Carragan, 78, died Monday November 13, 2006 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of the late Marion B. Carragan.

Mr. Carragan was born November 21, 1927 in Middlebury son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Carragan. He resided in Woodbury and Middlebury, and was a retired electrical engineer. Prior to his employment, he served with the US Army training as a paratrooper in Colorado.

A devoted Christian, he was a communicant of St. Teresa's Church, its men's club and its' Adoration Society. He served as an usher and had never missed a 9 am Mass. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He volunteered for the Greater Waterbury Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society. He enjoyed walking, especially along Main Street in Woodbury. He was a dedicated father and grandfather who always gave himself totally to his family.

He is survived by two sons, John M. and his wife Susan Carragan of Watertown and Kevin Carragan of Waterbury, two daughters Anne Marie and her husband Bob Walker of Middlebury and Kathleen and her husband Steve Conti of Nashua, NH, two sisters Agnes Bolger of Cromwell and Alice Sicard of Middlebury, four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Margaret Fenn and a daughter Eileen Carragan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Teresa's Church, Main St. South, Woodbury. Burial will be in Lake Elise Cemetery, Middlebury. Friends may call the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School St. on Friday from 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, in memory of his wife Marion, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Avenue, Meriden, CT 06450 or to Children of the Light, C/O St. Teresa's Church, P.O.
