John P. (Pete) Campbell, 79, of Woodbury, died November 20th 2009. He was the husband of Katherine H. Campbell. He was born in Waterbury on August 30th 1930, and was a graduate of Salisbury School and Trinity College. He served in the US Marine Corps and at his retirement, he was President of Hart, Ninninger Campbell Asc. Inc, manufacturers' representatives.
Pete was passionate about Traditional Jazz and was one of the founders of the Connecticut Traditional Jazz Club, presenters of jazz from around the world. He helped produce recordings for ConnTrad Records, which documented the club's concert series on vinyl. He was the leader and cornetist of The Funky Butt Jazz Band which performed throughout the state.
Pete was a Trustee of Town Funds, Woodbury, chairing it for many years and served on the Woodbury Republican Town Committee as well as the Republican State Central committee.
Pete and his wife Kay owned and bred Gordon Setters and he served on the Board of the Gordon Setter Club of America.
Besides his wife he leaves his daughter, Alexandra Jaye Campbell and his granddaughter Alexandra Schuyler Wood, his son, John Pierce Campbell Jr. and his wife Coleen. He also leaves his brother, Alexander J. Campbell and his wife Eleanor of Virginia Beach, VA., his sister Molly Quarrier of Durango, CO and his nieces and nephews.

Services: A Jazz Memorial gathering will be held Sunday, December 6th, 2pm, at the Woodbury Town Hall, Main Street, Woodbury.
