SEYMOUR- John L. Bentham, Jr., 80, of Seymour, died Saturday January 16, 2010 at Griffin Hospital. He was the husband of Bette (Parsons) Bentham.

Mr. Bentham was born October 24, 1929 in Seymour, son of the late John L. and Mary (Sheehan) Bentham, Sr. and has resided in Seymour for most of his life. He was a truck driver, having driven for several companies and retired from Yellow Freight. Mr. Bentham was in the Navy Seabees as an operator and was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War, having been discharged as 2d Class Petty Officer.

Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Bill Bentham of Sandy Hook and Richard Bentham of Seymour, a daughter, Lori Ann Bentham of Seymour, two grandchildren, Nicole Bentham of Michigan and Richard Bentham of Flag Staff, AZ, two great granddaughters, Alyssa Bentham and Caitlin Bentham.

He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Bentham.

Funeral services are private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School St. is in charge of arrangements.
