Miss Johanna L. Walsh, 68, of Woodbury, passed away at her home Sunday, October 12, 2008.
Miss Walsh was born March 18, 1940 in Waterbury, daughter of the late George K. and Madalyn (Caliento) Walsh. She was raised in Naugatuck and has resided in Woodbury since 1971.
She graduated from St. Francis Grammar School, Naugatuck High School, and received her bachelor's degree from Marywood College in Scranton, PA. She also received her master's degree in education from Fairfield University.
She retired in 2006 from Naugatuck High School having taught there for 45 years. While at the high school, she taught economics and business law. She enjoyed gardening and loved to travel during her time off in the summer. She traveled to Europe, Australia and Hong Kong. She also traveled to Japan, where she had a Fullbright scholarship at the University of Tokyo and also, to Hawaii, where she studied at the East West Center of the University of Hawaii.
Miss Walsh was a member of the Fullbright Association, Naugatuck Historical Society, CT Education Association and the National Education Association.
She leaves her sister, Patricia Wood of Nashville, GA.

Funeral: St. Teresa's Church
Services: A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Teresa's Church, Woodbury. Burial will be private in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck.
