Joan M. Johnson

Joan M. Ericsson Johnson, 94, of Southbury, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on January

23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Joan was born on May 9, 1931, in Waterbury, Connecticut, to Clarence Fischer and Ruth

Comstock. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Walter F. Johnson, in 2011, as well

as her brother Clarence and her sisters Myrtle and Althea.

Joan dedicated many years of her career as a shipping supervisor at Iseli Co. in Plymouth,

Connecticut, where she was known for her strong work ethic and reliability.

Outside of work, Joan found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was a devoted fan of UConn

women’s basketball and a passionate NASCAR enthusiast. She loved beginning her

mornings with the newspaper crossword puzzle and spent many afternoons enjoying game

shows, often answering along with ease.

Joan will be deeply missed by her family, including her son, David Ericsson (Rita) of

Southbury, Connecticut; her daughters, Caroline Ericsson of Newport, Vermont, and Nancy

(Wittaya) Ruan of Wimauma, Florida. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, many

great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to Laurie M. of Trinity Health of New England at

Home for her compassionate care and support.

Services

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 9th from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Munson-

Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main Street North, Southbury, Connecticut.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tunnel 2 Towers

Foundation (t2t.org). Donations may also be made to a charity of one’s choice.
