Obituary

Southbury- Joan D. Glenn, 89, of Southbury, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 29. She was the wife of the late Charles Glenn.

Joan was born on April 3, 1933 in Waterbury to the late Earl and Caroline (Caulfield) Garthwait. She was educated at Crosby High School and then the University of Connecticut. She worked as a licensed nurse and eventually retired from Middlesex Memorial Hospital in Middletown.

Caring for others was what Joan was known best for and she was devoted to her family. She was a fantastic cook and loved preparing meals and sharing her skills. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, hiking, traveling, birds and wildlife.

Besides her parents, she is also predeceased by her brothers Earl, James and Gary, her husbands Arnold A. Rossi, Richard Jude Cashman, and Charles Glenn, her daughter Hannah J. Cashman, her son-in-law James Gritman, her daughter-in-law Eileen Riley, and her grandson Nicholas Riley.

Joan is survived by her siblings, Alan (Susan) Garthwait, Carolyn (Michael) Sweeney, Mary-Ann (Thad) Burr, her children, Linda Gritman, Susan Rossi, James Cashman, Douglas (Brenda) Glenn, Bradley (Kat) Glenn. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sarah Riley, Simon (Mariola Acosta) Riley, Joshua (Erin) Riley, Robbie Glenn; and her great grandchildren, Caroline Riley, Laia and Maeve Riley Acosta. She also leaves many extended family members, friends and neighbors.
